FW Bocholt: Kitchen fire in the Barlo district - residents reached safety in time
Bocholt fire brigade (ots) -
The Bocholt fire brigade was alerted to a reported kitchen fire in a detached house in the Barlo district at 13:58 on Friday, 5 December 2025.
When the first firefighters arrived, the situation was confirmed: thick smoke was already billowing out of a kitchen window on the ground floor. The residents had been able to leave the house unharmed before the fire brigade arrived and were given medical care by the Bocholt emergency services.
A team wearing breathing apparatus was deployed to fight the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished. The affected area was then cleared of smoke with a high-performance fan and checked. The fire was prevented from spreading to other rooms thanks to the intervention of the fire brigade and the prudent behaviour of the residents, who had locked the kitchen door when they left the house.
The fire brigade and the rescue service of the city of Bocholt were deployed with 5 vehicles and 12 people for approx. 1.5 hours
