FW Bocholt: Hedge fire in Osterstraße - one person taken to hospital as a precaution

Shortly after 11:00 a.m. today, the fire brigade was alerted to a fire in the Osterstraße area. When the emergency services arrived, an ivy hedge was on fire over a length of around five metres. We received several emergency calls due to the heavy smoke development, which extended into the area of Langenbergstraße.
The prudent actions of an ambulance crew, who were on their way back to the fire and rescue station, deserve special mention. The crew recognised the situation at an early stage and were able to use the fire extinguisher to effectively contain the spread of the fire.
The fire brigade then took over firefighting and quickly brought the fire under control with a jet pipe. The neighbouring buildings were then entered, checked for possible smoke ingress and ventilated.
As a precautionary measure, one person was transported by ambulance to Bocholt hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
The operation was ended after a short time. A total of 10 firefighters with three vehicles were deployed.
