Bocholt fire brigade: Vehicle fire on the Schloßallee - Bocholt fire brigade in action
Bocholt fire brigade (ots) -
On Saturday evening, the Bocholt fire brigade was alerted to a vehicle fire on Schloßallee at 19:53. When the emergency services arrived, a tow truck was fully engulfed in flames and the adjacent grass verge had also caught fire.
The driver was alerted to the glow of fire under the vehicle by attentive cyclists. He was able to stop the tow truck in time and escape unharmed. However, his own attempts to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher were unsuccessful.
The fire brigade fought the fire under heavy breathing protection with a C jet pipe and were able to prevent the fire from spreading further. Due to the extinguishing water used, the lower water authority of the Borken district and the public order office of the city of Bocholt were called in.
After consultation with the authorities, the affected area was sprinkled with oil binding agent. A waste disposal company was commissioned to professionally collect and dispose of the contaminated material.
The police assisted on site.
The Bocholt fire brigade was deployed with four vehicles and 10 firefighters for around 2.5 hours.
