Humorous border crossings between Germany and the Netherlands
In his programme, Amsterdam-born cabaret artist Patrick Nederkoorn brings his personal experiences between cultures to the stage. In "The Fleeing Dutchman", he uses humour, music and personal stories to tell of the small and big differences between Germany and the Netherlands. These include German idioms, bureaucracy, speed cameras and the question of why the German tax programme "Elster" is named after a thieving bird. Nederkoorn combines a trenchant cabaret style with charming observations of everyday life, creating a form of international understanding that is as entertaining as it is unifying.
Grenzhoppers: Network for German-Dutch cooperation
The meeting takes place as part of the Grenzhoppers network. Municipalities from the Dutch region of Achterhoek and the southern district of Borken work together in this network. The aim is to bring people from both sides of the border together, establish contacts and strengthen cross-border cooperation. The annual Grenzhoppers meetings offer an open platform for encounters, dialogue and new ideas - and are also deliberately open to interested citizens.
Well-known Dutch comedian in Rhede
Patrick Nederkoorn is known from the SAT.1 programme DIE BESTEN COMEDIANS DEUTSCHLANDS - and as a Dutchman, that's saying something. With his first programme DIE ORANGENE GEFAHR he was nominated for the PRIX PANTHEON and won the KOMIKER JACKPOT. The current programme "Der fliehende Holländer" is a collaboration with the Kom(m)ödchen in Düsseldorf. Patrick Nederkoorn came up with the text and idea. He is accompanied musically on the piano by Guido van de Meent. The production is directed by Ralf Lohr.
