More than 400 people have already registered for the Border Region Conference in Bocholt

Preparations are under way at the LWL Textile Works // Border Region Conference on 2 December in Bocholt

More than 400 registrations have already been received for the 8th German-Dutch Border Region Conference, to be held on 2 December 2026 in Bocholt. As a result, detailed preparations for the workshops and event venues are now under way at the LWL Textile Centre. Discussions are currently taking place regarding the layout of the rooms, technical equipment and wayfinding within the building.

Preparations for the 8th German-Dutch Border Region Conference are moving into the next phase. Verena Winter from GrenzBlickAtelier and Martin Schmidt from LWL-Textilwerk are currently inspecting the premises in the historic spinning mill and coordinating their use for the various workshops. The focus is on the size, location and technical facilities of the rooms. The aim is for the individual workshop groups to find suitable conditions for professional exchange on the day of the event. At the same time, plans are being drawn up for how the rooms can be signposted and how the routes within the sprawling historic building can be clearly laid out.

"With more than 400 registrations already received, it is clear that there is great interest in cross-border cooperation", says Petra Taubach, Bocholt's European Affairs Officer and co-organiser, "which makes it all the more important to create the right conditions for interaction and professional exchange on the day of the event." The Border Region Conference will bring together representatives from politics, public administration and civil society from Germany and the Netherlands. In various specialist workshops, they will address issues relating to cross-border cooperation. Topics covered include mobility, the labour market, security and social cooperation. The aim of the conference is to address obstacles in everyday cross-border life, to promote professional exchange and to provide new impetus for cooperation between North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands.
