German-Dutch photo competition on the theme of "Peace"

The German-Dutch photo competition "FRIEDEN - VREDE" invites photography enthusiasts aged 6 to 18 to participate. This photo competition ends the celebrations of "80 years of peace and freedom" in 2025 and moves into the new year 2026 with the longing for peace forever.

The border region between Germany and the Netherlands stands for free thinking and independent decision-making by the people of both countries. It is important to continue working towards a strong democracy so that people can live well together and experience freedom and peace and pass them on to future generations.

Photo competition and exhibition

Pupils between the ages of 6 and 18 can take part in the competition. The pictures can be taken with a camera or mobile phone; AI-generated pictures are not permitted. We are looking for a motif that expresses your own interpretation of the theme "Peace". Individuals, school classes or youth groups can take part; a maximum of three images per person or group can be submitted. The closing date for entries is 29 November.

An independent jury of experts will select the top three winners in each category and age group from the photographs submitted. The winners will be notified by email and published on the organiser's website and in other media. The award ceremony will take place on 21 December 2025 at 2 pm in the GrenzBlickAtelier gallery (Hahnenpatt 2, Bocholt-Suderwick).

The 12 best photos (6 per category) will be professionally printed and exhibited in the gallery, the winners of the first place in each category and age group will receive a photo workshop with a professional photographer. After the exhibition, the winning pictures can be taken home. All other pictures that are not printed will be shown as a slide show during the exhibition.

Dinxperwick (Bürgerinitiative Dinxperwick e.V.) together with the sponsors and cooperation partners EUREGIO, Förderkreis Deutsch-Niederländisches Jugendwerk and the city of Bocholt as well as Gemeente Aalten, Stadtbibliothek Bocholt, De Bibliotheek Achterhoekse Poort, EUROPE DIRECT BOCHOLT and Grenzhoppers.
