Music meets art on International Women's Day

To mark International Women's Day, the city of Bocholt and its cooperation partners are inviting women to a cultural matinée at the LWL-Museum Textilwerk on Sunday, 8 March 2026. Under the motto "Music meets Art", participants can expect a varied programme of music, exhibition tours and a historical tour in the spinning mill. Registration for the event is open until 4 March.

The Equal Opportunities Officer of the city of Bocholt is organising the morning in cooperation with the LWL-Museum Textilwerk, the Bocholt-Isselburg Music School and Europe Direct Bocholt. The organisers invite you to a matinée in the Sky Lounge at 11 am. The matinée will be accompanied by songs and poetry from the women's movement, which has been campaigning for self-determination, equality and solidarity for generations. Admission starts at 10 am at Industriestrasse 5.

Special attention will be paid to the exchange between the participating women: Discussions and encounters will create space for dialogue, shared experiences and perspectives - both local and European. Among other things, participants will also have the opportunity to talk to Valentina Vlašić, the new director of the LWL Museum. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The programme combines music, poetry and art to make female history and the present visible. One thematic focus is the current exhibition "Behind Beauty - Behind the Scenes of the Beauty Industry", which can be viewed as part of special guided tours at 10.15 am and 1 pm. Alternatively, a historical city tour entitled "Rediscovering my city" starts at 1 pm, which follows in the footsteps of Bocholt women and highlights their work in the city.
