Event: Statutory pension provision - Thinking about your pension whilst you're still young
Event as part of the "Women & Work" series // 18 November 2026 at 7 pm at the LernWerk
The issue of pensions does not only affect older people; young people, in particular, can start making provisions for their retirement in good time. The event focuses on independent pension provision for women, who are more frequently affected by poverty in old age.
Women often earn less than men, are more likely to work part-time, and are more likely to take a break from or end their careers for family reasons, which results in lower entitlements under the statutory pension scheme. But how can this cycle be broken in good time?
This talk will outline ways for participants to build up their statutory pension entitlements. It will also examine the impact of maternity leave, part-time work and unpaid care work on one's pension.
How do mini-jobs contribute to your pension account? What happens to pension entitlements following a divorce? What role does the new legislation on survivors' pensions play? These and other questions will be answered by the speaker, who works as an adviser for the German Pension Insurance Scheme.
Registration for the event is only possible via the following link: www.kreis-borken.de/de/veranstaltungen-gleichstellung
