Start of the city-wide rubbish collection campaign "Bocholt spring clean"

Period of the city-wide collection campaign from 21 to 27 March // Distribution of free equipment by the ESB from 17 March

From 21 to 27 March, the waste advisory service of the waste disposal and service company (ESB) of the city of Bocholt is once again calling for a city-wide waste collection campaign. Under the motto "Bocholter Frühjahrsputz" (Bocholt Spring Cleaning"), citizens can help to clear the neighbourhood of carelessly discarded rubbish. All participants will receive free collection packs with the necessary equipment in advance.

"As many people are drawn out into nature in spring, the commitment to do something for the environment is also high", explains the ESB's waste advisor, Petra Tacke, "we support this with the so-called spring clean". The ESB is once again organising a large-scale clean-up campaign for the entire city area this spring. From 17 March, the waste advisory service will be handing out collection packs to all interested parties at the recycling centre. In addition to work gloves and rubbish bags, these will also contain a small surprise as a thank you for your voluntary work. The actual collection week will then take place from 21 to 27 March.

Participation is open to all citizens. Whether on a walk, during a dog walk or during a sporting activity known as "Plogging", there are many ways to integrate waste collection into everyday life. The project has been supported by strong civic commitment since 2000. Numerous local groups, including local heritage organisations, shooting clubs and sports clubs, have traditionally supported the campaign with great commitment. Last year, the ESB recorded around 2000 participants throughout the city. "It would be very nice if we could maintain this number to rid Bocholt of rubbish" says waste consultant Petra Tacke. "The commitment of the many participants in Bocholt is enormous."

In order to optimally prepare the distribution of the materials logistically, prior registration is required for groups, neighbourhoods or clubs of eight or more people. This can be done by e-mail to petra.tacke(at)esb.bocholt(dot)de or by telephone on 02871 953-3424. Individuals and smaller groups do not need to register separately and can collect their collection parcel directly from the waste advice centre office at the recycling centre.
