Proceeds from the bulky waste exchange are handed over to the "Helfende Hände e. V." association

Donations totalling around 1280 euros handed over // Proceeds go to Helfende Hände St. Josef Bocholt e. V.

A total of 1282.40 euros was collected during the bulky waste exchange organised by the Bocholt waste disposal and service company (ESB) on 25 April 2026. Waste consultant Petra Tacke has now presented this sum to helpers from the "Helfende Hände St. Josef Bocholt e. V." association on the premises of the furniture warehouse.

By selling second-hand items, it was possible to do something good in two ways: the re-use of the items contributes to sustainability and the proceeds benefit charitable work.

Furniture storage and neighbourhood help

The "Helfende Hände St. Josef Bocholt e. V." association uses the proceeds from the bulky waste exchange for the furniture warehouse and neighbourhood help, among other things. The association provides furniture and household goods to refugees and people in need via the furniture warehouse on Werkstraße. The Helping Hands also offer practical everyday assistance, such as accompanying people to doctor's appointments, carrying out minor repairs or helping people fill out forms.

Wide range of services

At the bulky waste exchange, items were sold that had previously been accepted at the recycling centre. "These are mainly decorative items, toys and household items", emphasises waste consultant Petra Tacke. "This year, we had an unusually large number of puzzles, books and pictures in our range, but few large items. The 50 beer tent tables in the ESB vehicle hall were well stocked", she adds. One particular highlight, a large advertising figure for children's books, found a new home in the Kinderschutzbund children's shop.

Many visitors

Half an hour before the hall opened, countless interested people had already gathered in front of the gates. Within the first half hour, the offer was already well filled. "The many visitors were very impressed by the many and sometimes curious items", Petra Tacke is pleased to report. Helpers from the Helping Hands supported the sale with a great deal of commitment and negotiating skills. Young people from the THW youth organisation actively supported the ESB staff in clearing up.
