Christmas baubles from the cemetery can be collected

The third edition of the Christmas tree campaign at the main municipal cemetery has been a success and has once again moved many people. From now on, the individually designed baubles can be removed from the trees again by citizens. Collection is possible until 18 January during regular opening hours.

Now that the Christmas season is over, this year's Christmas tree campaign at Bocholt's main cemetery is drawing to a close. Organised by the private initiative led by Ingo Damhus and Susanne Hülskamp-Seesing and supported by the waste disposal and service company (ESB), the third edition of the campaign was once again very popular. Numerous people took the opportunity to design personal greetings to the deceased on baubles and attach them to the illuminated trees, which also supported the work of the Bocholt food bank.

Now all participants have the opportunity to take their personal mementos home with them. The decorated trees will remain in the cemetery grounds on Blücherstraße until Sunday, 18 January 2026. Until this date, the baubles can be removed independently at any time during the cemetery's regular opening hours.

As the weather and wind have not been absent in recent weeks, the cemetery administration would like to point out that a few baubles may have fallen from the branches. These specimens have been collected and placed next to the trees so that the owners can find them and take them away.

On Monday, 19 January, the ESB will begin the dismantling work. The trees will then be removed and the fairy lights stored.
