After colliding with a fence: injured deer in the game enclosure is being cared for and is undergoing treatment

Dog breaks loose on public holiday and causes wild animals to become agitated // Deer crashes into fence during escape and injures itself

Following an incident in the city forest enclosure last bank holiday, the deer living there is under observation by city staff and is receiving veterinary treatment. The animal had been startled by a dog and injured itself by colliding with the fence as it fled. Entsorgungs- und Servicebetrieb Bocholt (ESB) is keeping an eye on the situation and would like to thank the public for the information received.

Over the past few days, the ESB and the city of Bocholt have received several enquiries from attentive visitors to the city forest who had noticed the deer limping. The cause of the animal's visible discomfort lies in an incident that occurred on the recent public holiday. In the area of the enclosure, a dog had broken its lead and startled the deer. In an attempt to escape from the dog, the deer collided with the enclosure fence and injured its leg.

The ESB staff responsible for the enclosure reacted immediately and took over the care of the animal on the public holiday. The specialised staff have been continuously monitoring the situation and the deer's health since the incident and have called in a vet for treatment.
