Sustainability Award 2026: Nominate projects now!

The city of Bocholt is once again calling on all citizens, associations, companies and initiatives to submit their projects for a better future. Applications for the second edition of the Bocholt Sustainability Award in 2026 are still possible until the end of the year.

Now creative minds and energetic doers are needed to show how sustainability is lived in Bocholt and which projects they have initiated or implemented in 2025.

"Our city will become more sustainable if we don't just talk for a long time, but work together", says Bocholt's mayor Christian Mangen. "I am happy about every project that shows: Together we can get things moving! And hopefully that inspires many others to get involved themselves."

Sascha Terörde from the City of Bocholt's Climate Protection Department also emphasises: "The Sustainability Award shows what is possible when people take responsibility. The first applications have been received and show once again that the people of Bocholt are full of ideas," says Terörde.

Applications can be submitted unbureaucratically until 31 December 2025. We are looking for projects that inspire, motivate and encourage people to follow suit. Whether in the field of ecology, economy or social issues - the decisive factor is that at least two of these fields are linked. Because real sustainability is created where ideas connect people and have an impact.

An award that moves - and rewards!

Every two years, the city of Bocholt honours outstanding projects that show that sustainability is not just a buzzword, but an attitude that is put into practice. The jury - consisting of representatives from politics, administration, science, media and the main sponsor - selects the best initiatives.

The first prize is endowed with 5,000 euros, sponsored by Bocholter Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH. For the first edition in 2024, 24 applications were received, and Bocholt now wants to build on this.

We are looking for ideas that shape the future - from innovative educational projects and sustainable business models to social initiatives that keep our city together.
