Bokeltsen Meet 2026

Hands-on construction activities in the city centre and the 2nd Club Fair in the Shopping Arkaden

Bocholt. On the Sunday shopping day "Bokeltsen Treff%$, family activities were the order of the day in Bocholt - and all in glorious early autumn weather.

On the 'Bokeltsen Treff' Sunday shopping event on 27 August 2026, Bocholt's town centre showed itself at its best: In glorious autumn weather, visitors from the Münsterland, the Lower Rhine, the Ruhr region and the Netherlands flocked into the city centre from midday onwards. As always, many local residents cycled into town and enjoyed the varied programme.

Hands-on construction technology

In the bright sunshine, children and young people - as well as interested adults - took the opportunity to experience construction technology up close. The climbing pole set up by Kampshoff in collaboration with the DAV's Bocholt branch on the Markt offered thrills and a great view. At St. Georg, numerous people enjoyed the view of Bocholt from over 60 metres up in the gondola of Schares' crane, whilst down on the square, Schöttler were busy digging in the sand and visitors were taking great photos with the inflatable chainsaw at the Tekaath stand. And at Neutor Square, too, there was digging going on with Mesken, alongside a skill game of a different kind. And alongside the fire brigade and THW, complete with their exciting emergency vehicles, visitors were lifted high above the River Aa on a 22-metre-high aerial platform provided by Lift it.

2nd Club Fair

And the shopping arcades were practically bursting at the seams. The 2nd Bocholt Clubs Fair attracted countless visitors to and around the shopping centre. Sixty-four clubs presented themselves to the public here, invited visitors to take part in interesting hands-on activities and put on fantastic performances on the stage by the River Aa. Centre manager Heiko Wagner was delighted with the turnout and pleased with this successful repeat event.

And whilst some took an active part in the hands-on activities, others used the time to have a stroll, do some shopping, have a coffee, or enjoy a slice of cake or an ice cream.

Or simply to have a natter, because the "Bokeltsen Treff" is - especially in such lovely weather - always a great opportunity to meet friends, acquaintances and relatives, or to head into town on a Sunday with visitors from out of town.

Prize handover for "We'll pack your suitcase"

In addition, the three suitcases from the "We'll Pack Your Suitcase" campaign were handed over this Sunday. The three lucky winners came very close to the correct value with their guesses. This amounted to €1,228.74 per suitcase, and all three guesses were less than €6 off the actual value. Mechtild Hoffs, Chair of the ISG Altstadt Bocholt, and City Marketing Managing Director Ludger Dieckhues presented the suitcases, which were packed to the brim.

"It's always lovely to see what's going on in Bocholt town centre - so many people from near and far created a brilliant atmosphere. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day out for the whole family in Bocholt," said City Marketing Managing Director Ludger Dieckhues.

"Of course, with the weather as it was, the focus was on strolling around, taking part, having a look about, finding out more at the clubs' fair, and enjoying ice cream or waffles - but the shops were also very busy.

"People will come back; they really enjoyed the great atmosphere. It was simply a brilliant day in the town centre!" explained Dieckhues.

The Bokeltsen Treff was supported by stadtwerker and the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.
