Bocholt reads! - Bestselling author Carsten Henn presents two of his books

Reading from bestseller and new novel // Tuesday, 3 June 2025 in the city library // Advance booking 9 euros, ticket sales 10 euros

Carsten Henn, bestselling author and one of the best-known voices in German culinary literature, is coming to "Bocholt liest!". On 3 June, he will be reading from his books "Der Buchspazierer" and "Die Butterbrotbriefe" in the city library. Tickets can be purchased at a reduced price in advance or at the box office.

Carsten Henn writes novels of destiny from the centre of life and enchants a wide audience with his stories. His books are often described as warm-hearted, inspiring and poetic. They are characterised by subtle humour and a deep feeling for the little things in everyday life.

Feel-good novels about books and life
For the reading on 3 June, the author has brought two of his works with him, which are thought-provoking in very different ways. "The Bookseller" - his best-known novel - focuses on friendship, ageing and the magic of books. It is the story of bookseller Carl Christian Kollhoff and his attachment to the little girl Schascha.

"The Buttered Bread Letters" also tells of fate, but also of letting go and starting anew. It's about Kati Waldstein, who wants to start a new life and writes farewell letters for everyone who has influenced her - on sandwich paper.

"I could read Carsten Henn's books again and again - or in the case of the book walker with the film starring Christoph Maria Herbst - watch them again and again", says Klaudia Kroesen from the city library. She is looking forward to Carsten Henn's visit and to a "literary journey for the heart and mind" on the day of the reading.

Registration at the VHS and at the city library
The event will take place on 3 June in the foyer of Bocholt City Library at 7.30 pm. Admission begins at 7 pm. Tickets are available in advance for 9 euros at www.vhs-bocholt.de, at the VHS office or at the city library. Tickets are also available at the box office for 10 euros.

The reading is supported by the Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Volkshochschule Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg, Stadtbibliothek and JUNGE UNI in Bocholt e.V.
