Christian Mangen starts as the new mayor of the city of Bocholt

Christian Mangen officially took office as mayor of the city of Bocholt today, Monday 3 November 2025. Taking office marks the start of a new term of office for Bocholt at the head of the city administration. Mangen was elected as the new mayor by the people of Bocholt in September and succeeds Thomas Kerkhoff, who held the office for five years.

Mangen was warmly welcomed by administrative staff at the town hall. Accompanied by representatives of the city administration, he began his first day at work, held initial discussions and learnt about current topics and projects. A tour of the administration's central offices and facilities was also on the programme.

In the coming weeks, the new mayor wants to gain a comprehensive picture of the city's current plans and projects. He attaches particular importance to transparency, proximity to citizens and close cooperation with politicians, administration, associations and businesses. Even before taking office, Mangen emphasised that an open exchange with citizens is important to him.

"Bocholt has enormous potential - I want to develop this further with drive, team spirit and a willingness to engage in dialogue", explained Mangen on his first day in office, "it is important to me to listen, to take on board ideas and to make Bocholt even more liveable step by step. I would like to thank my predecessor Thomas Kerkhoff for his work and take over the office with great respect and motivation."

The city of Bocholt faces important tasks for the future in the coming years - particularly in the areas of urban development, mobility, climate protection and digitalisation. The upcoming infrastructure, school construction and modernisation projects, as well as the renovation of the town hall, are a particular focus. Christian Mangen would like to work with his team in the town hall, politicians and all stakeholders to advance these issues in a constructive and goal-oriented manner.
