Focus on strong women: City of Bocholt invites you to Women's Day event
To mark International Women's Day, the city of Bocholt invites you to a special event at the LWL-Museum TextilWerk on Sunday, 8 March 2026. Under the motto "Music meets art - in the footsteps of strong women", participants can expect a varied programme of matinée, guided tours and dialogue. Interested citizens can register now for the morning.
The event begins at 10 a.m. in the spinning mill of the LWL-Museum TextilWerk at Industriestrasse 5. The programme combines music, poetry and artistic works to make the experiences of women visible. A central element of the programme is a look behind the scenes of the beauty industry and a tribute to the women's movement, which has been campaigning for equality and solidarity for generations.
A matinée will take place in the Sky Lounge at 11 a.m., accompanied by songs and texts from the women's movement. In addition to the cultural programme, the focus will be on the exchange between the participating women. Conversations and encounters will create space for dialogue about shared experiences and perspectives at local and European level. Drinks and snacks will be provided for the guests.
"International Women's Day offers us the opportunity to make women's achievements visible and at the same time strengthen the dialogue on current social challenges", says Bocholt's Equal Opportunities Officer Astrid Schupp.
The supporting programme also includes specific tours. Special tours of the current exhibition "Behind Beauty - Behind the Scenes of the Beauty Industry" will be offered shortly after admission and at midday. At the same time, interested visitors have the opportunity to take part in a historical city tour. This is specifically dedicated to the traces of Bocholt women and brings female history to life in the public urban space.
The city administration is accepting registrations for the morning via the online portal at https://eveeno.com/BocholterFrauentag2026 until 4 March 2026. The participation fee is 20 euros.
As the number of places is limited, early registration is recommended. The event is a cooperation between the Equal Opportunities Officer, the LWL Museum, the Bocholt-Isselburg Music School and Europe Direct Bocholt.
