Industrial railway line Bocholt: Sustainable logistics for the Mussum industrial park

The city of Bocholt is making the railway fit for the future again. The industrial trunk track in the Mussum industrial park is about to be reopened and offers companies an efficient, environmentally friendly alternative to road transport.

What is the industrial railway?

The industrial main line is a public railway infrastructure that connects the Mussum Industrial Park directly to the (supra-regional) rail network. It is used to transport goods and enables companies to deliver or remove goods directly by rail.

The city of Bocholt is currently repairing the infrastructure in close cooperation with a railway operations manager in order to be able to start operations as soon as possible.

Your advantages: Economic power meets climate protection

Switching to rail is worthwhile - for your company and the environment:

  • Cost efficiency: transport large quantities of goods at attractive conditions.
  • Planning security: reliable logistics, regardless of traffic jams and road closures
  • Sustainability: Significant reduction in CO₂ emissions and traffic noise.
  • Location advantage: Increased attractiveness of your business thanks to a direct railway siding.

How to use the track

If you are interested in using the industrial main line, you may, subject to certain conditions, use an existing track connection or apply for a new one. To use the track, the railway undertaking intending to operate on it must enter into an infrastructure usage agreement with the City of Bocholt. As part of this process, proof of the railway undertaking's insurance cover and your operating licence in accordance with Section 7 of the German Railway Act (AEG) must also be submitted.

The necessary information and forms will be available - once the track is operational - on the right-hand side of this page. Please note that a valid infrastructure usage agreement is required before you can book the track.

Bookings for slots on the industrial main track are made via the city's booking system, ANNY.

The city of Bocholt owns the infrastructure and is responsible for its development, maintenance and strategic utilisation. Operational management is carried out in cooperation with a railway operations manager. The city is continuously developing the industrial railway line in order to meet future economic and climate protection requirements.

Significance for the business location

The industrial railway line increases the attractiveness of the location for existing and new companies. The railway siding is an important competitive factor, especially for manufacturing and logistics companies.
