Professional lorry driver for freight transport

As a professional lorry driver, you will take on responsible tasks in dealing with people, vehicles and cargo. You will drive a wide variety of vehicles in the diverse areas of waste management and cityscape maintenance - from refuse lorries and road sweepers to other lorries with special bodies.

Depending on the area of operation, you will drive fixed routes or plan your journeys independently. At the ESB, you will only be travelling on local routes - a clear advantage, as this allows you to combine your professional life with your private life.

• At least a secondary school leaving certificate
• Car driving licence (min. class B without restriction) + of legal age at the start of training
• Manual skills and an interest in technology & enjoyment of driving

The three-year training programme takes place at the waste disposal and service company (ESB) of the city of Bocholt. Classes at the vocational school are held at the Bocholt-West vocational college in the block model.

During the apprenticeship you will learn, among other things

• The functioning of vehicles, e.g. engine, power transmission or chassis

• Assessing road safety through visual inspection, for example of the body and wheels, engine or signage

• Securing accident sites, danger spots and vehicles

• Legal regulations in road traffic

• Accounting and documentation

• Acceptance and departure checks

• Inspection of transported goods

• Vehicle loading and load securing

• Reading and operating control instruments

• Transport regulations

• Behaviour in the event of accidents and incidents

• Route and tour planning
