Theatre play for young people aged 12 and over, based on the novel by Marianne Kaurin, performed by the Landestheater Detmold.
On the last day of school before the holidays, all the children brag about their holiday destinations: Mallorca, Florida, the South of France, Dubai. Only Ina remains silent, as she will be spending her holiday in the high-rise estate, as she often does. Her mother doesn't have the money for the holiday. When her classmates won't stop asking her where she's going, she suddenly hears herself say in front of the whole class: "To the south!" Ina stays in her room from morning till night on the first day of her holiday so that the lie doesn't get noticed.
But Vilmer, the new kid in class, discovers Ina in her exile and persistently lures her out to make her pipe dream of travelling south a reality. And Ina realises that the most important thing is not where you are, but who you are with.
Marianne Kaurin's novel "Irgendwo ist immer Süden" was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize in 2021.
