The special film "The penguin of my life"
What happens when a penguin follows you wherever you go? This true story of an English teacher in Argentina shows how he gets into chaotic situations when he rescues a penguin. The responsibility for the animal creates a heart-warming and amusing connection between the withdrawn teacher and his pupils.
Tom Michell (Steve Coogan) takes up a position as an English teacher at an elite Argentinian school in 1979 - he could hardly have chosen a more turbulent time to take up his post. In his very first week, the government under Isabel Perón is overthrown in a military coup. To escape the unrest, he and a colleague friend decide to travel to neighbouring Uruguay.
When he tries to impress a woman during his holiday, Tom rescues a penguin from an oil field, but the bird proves to be more affectionate than expected and never leaves his side. Despite all his attempts to get rid of the penguin, he finally has no choice but to take it back to Argentina and hide it in the school. But Tom soon realises that the penguin named "Juan Salvador" gives him unexpected access to his unmotivated pupils, marking the beginning of an unconventional friendship.
The film lasts 112 minutes. The film was directed by Peter Cattaneo.
