The special film "The Great White Shark"
On Tuesday, 14 October, the city of Bocholt presents the horror classic " Jaws" by Steven Spielberg as part of the "The Special Film" series. This film revolutionised and shocked the cinema world 50 years ago. Shocking moments are guaranteed on the big screen.

Martin Brody (Roy Scheider), the new police chief of the coastal town of Amity, is called to the beach where the mangled body of a holidaymaker has washed up. Everything points to a shark attack, but the mayor wants to cover it up so as not to jeopardise the upcoming tourism business. A fatal decision, as there are soon more victims. From then on, the police chief, a marine biologist and shark fishermen pursue the common goal of killing the predator.
Its innovative marketing strategies brought the film huge commercial success and set new standards in the film industry even then. Awarded three Oscars, the thriller still gives goose bumps to this day with its dramatic and world-famous melody when the shark appears.
The film lasts 124 minutes.

About the special film campaign
The film series "KINO Bocholt - the special film" has existed since 1977 as a cooperation between the Department of Education and Culture and Kinodrom Bocholt. The aim is to present exceptional films - which would otherwise not be shown in Bocholt - to an interested audience of all ages at a favourable price of €7. Selected films are usually shown every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
