The special film "Marianengraben"

After a traumatic accident and a serious loss, a spontaneous and chaotic journey becomes a turning point and a chance for two people to find their way back to life.

After the traumatic loss of her little brother, Paula (Luna Wedler) has lost all courage to face life. She meets the oddball Helmut (Edgar Selge) by chance at the cemetery. He wants to take his ex-wife's stolen urn to South Tyrol to bury her there. Paula wants to go to Rimini, to the beach where her brother died, to be close to him. - This is the beginning of a moving journey during which they both have to face their grief. When Paula learns of Helmut's serious illness, she questions her own plans and embarks on new paths.

A film that is honest, sad and funny at the same time.

The film lasts 87 minutes. The film was directed by Eileen Byrne.

About the special film programme

The film series "KINO Bocholt - the special film" has existed since 1977 as a cooperation between the Department of Education and Culture and Kinodrom Bocholt. The aim is to present exceptional films - which would otherwise not be shown in Bocholt - to an interested audience of all ages at a favourable price of €7. Selected films are usually shown every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.
