As always in December, singing takes centre stage at the Bocholt Jazz Evening. We have been following this tradition for 25 years now. This year, Henning Gailing has invited the Austrian singer Lilli Kornhuber.
Lilli is a great young talent in the area of tension between traditional and modern vocal jazz. Her repertoire includes her own compositions and the "Great American Songbook" as well as hidden gems of jazz history - including pieces by Charles Mingus, Bill Evans and Carla Bley. She was a singer with the JM Jazz World Orchestra 2025 and is currently a member of the renowned Bundes Jugend Jazz Orchestras as well as performing in smaller formations.
Kornhuber will be accompanied by Leon Hattori, a great pianist of the younger generation. Hattori grew up in Japan, New Zealand and Germany, has lived in Cologne since 2018 and has already shared the stage with high-calibre artists such as Lage Lund, Joey Barron and Donny McCaslin.
Henning Gailing on double bass and, as almost always in December, Dutchman Hans Dekker from the WDR BigBand complete the rhythm section. You can look forward to a swinging jazz evening with a high-calibre line-up!
