Jacqueline Passon: "Dia de los Muertos""

Exhibition opening

Free admission

Jacqeline Passon, from Bocholt, is a mother of two and an artist through and through.

Even as a child, her talent stood out in art lessons, allowing her to develop her skills freely.

After leaving school, she continued to take on commissioned work alongside her job at the time, creating pieces in both acrylic on canvas and pencil. She has continually refined her techniques and also spent some time learning from the Bocholt-based artist Georg Spogahn. She also learnt a great deal from the Australian artist Linda Azzopardi during her three-month stay in Australia. She loves painting whatever comes to mind on canvas using acrylics. She specialises in portraits of both animals and people.

However, for her paintings - such as those depicting the Día de los Muertos or Christmas scenes - she also works with other materials, such as flowers, fairy lights, textured pastes and so on.

Last May, she set up her own business, as she had so many commissions that she could no longer juggle them with her day job. Many of my works are on display at the Ribhouse Texas in Bocholt, and new ideas are regularly brought to life there.

As well as painting, she has also designed Meckermann figurines and candles in the past and carries out her own projects at home; for example, she built a tree in her stairwell. The Meckermann figurines and candles are available to buy at the Christmas market in Rhede. She says:

"You could say that I actually always have far too little time for far too many ideas.""

The exhibition features pictures of her work in various formats and will remain on display at every event until the beginning of April.
