Annual concert collegium musicum 2025

On Sunday, 23 November 2025, the concert of the collegium musicum of the city of Bocholt will take place at 18:00 in the Christuskirche, Münsterstraße 19. The orchestra, conducted by Annette Oehmen, will present a varied and challenging programme: Franz Schubert - "Unfinished" Symphony in B minor, Barbara York - Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra, Edvard Grieg - "The Autumn", concert piece for large orchestra.

Georg Frericks will appear as guest tuba player. Born in Isselburg in 1965, he began his tuba lessons at the Bocholt music school with Rudolf Müller. He studied at the conservatories in Essen, Arnhem and Hanover and graduated in 1993 in Hanover with a degree in music. He then worked as an orchestral musician in the Eichsfelder Kulturorchester and the Loh-Orchester Nordhausen/ Sondershausen. His teachers include Hans Gelhar, Donald Blakeslee, Clemens Pröpper, Roger Bobo and Ulrich Haas.

Previous orchestral activities include the Isselburg Youth Wind Orchestra, the Bocholt Music School Symphony Orchestra, the NRW State Symphony Orchestra, the European Youth Wind Orchestra (Luxembourg), the European Student Orchestra (Greece) and the German-French Philharmonic Orchestra. After closing the orchestra in Nordhausen/Sondershausen, he studied German language and literature and music for the teaching profession and now works as a wind class and orchestra leader at the Pina Bausch Comprehensive School in Wuppertal. He is also active in various amateur and semi-professional ensembles.

The concert is supported by the city of Bocholt and the Evangelical Church in Bocholt.
