The 'Business and Biodiversity' funding programme focuses on businesses in Bocholt, Bocholt's retail sector, associations and organisations, foundations, co-operatives, church parishes and legal entities.
The aim of the funding programme is to bring more colour, life and diversity to company premises in Bocholt. The outdoor areas of these businesses will become a 'green calling card', whilst also providing new habitats for animals and plants.
The emphasis is on native flowering plants and woody plants, as well as wetland habitats and increasing structural diversity. When skilfully selected, native shrubs, flowering plants and perennials provide nectar, leaves, fruit, hiding places and nesting sites all year round.
Also important for insects and other animal species are near-natural structures such as deadwood and stone joints, as well as breeding sites in the form of nesting aids.
