The Funeral Hall
The new mourning hall on Blücherstraße
In January 2022, the new mourning hall in the immediate vicinity could be put into operation. The modern new building forms a harmonious counterbalance to the listed cemetery chapel, which stands in the immediate vicinity.
About twice as many guests can attend funeral services in the new mourning hall as in the old cemetery chapel.
There isseating for 84 and standing room for about 50, providing enough space even for larger funeral parties. Attending the funeral service from the cemetery forecourt is now a thing of the past. The entire building is designed to be barrier-free, so that even wheelchairs and walkers can easily access the chapel for funeral services.
Thanks to the large window fronts, the building is flooded with light and offers a friendly atmosphere. Thanks to the curtains provided, the mourners can decide for themselves whether they want to let their gaze wander over the parkland of the Bocholt cemetery or mourn in private. A special eye-catcher is the high end wall made of metal-coated elements, which is illuminated by a skylight.
The elaborate terrazzo floor and light-coloured wooden panels on the walls round off the high-quality furnishings of the new mourning hall. Thanks to state-of-the-art audio technology, every funeral service can be musically customised. The organ of the old cemetery chapel will also sound in the new mourning hall.
In addition to the funeral hall, a farewell room is available in the new mourning hall. The farewell room has a bright, friendly and high-quality design. A large window allows a view of the planted inner courtyard. Curtains can be used to create privacy to the desired extent. An individually manufactured urn pedestal is available for urns, and a tasteful coffin pedestal for coffins. Access is from the forecourt of the funeral hall through a separate door.
The farewell room is designed to be multifunctional and serves various purposes. Here, funeral ceremonies can be held in a small circle in a family atmosphere. The room is particularly suitable for urn burials, which can be attended by up to 15 relatives. In this way, the cemetery administration fulfils the wish for a farewell in the closest circle of family and friends. In addition, it is possible for relatives to say goodbye personally and individually in the run-up to a funeral service.
The historic mourning hall
From 1937 to 2021, the now listed cemetery chapel served as a mourning hall. The cemetery administration is located in the rear wing. In the meantime, the building houses the offices of the cemetery administration. The future use of the funeral hall will be discussed at a later date.
