Town hall renovation
The listed Bocholt town hall on Berliner Platz with its cultural centre (built in 1977) is currently being renovated. The goals include:
- Addition of a 4th floor
- Renewal of the technology
- Larger council chamber
- Theatre renovation with extended stage
- Barrier-free access to citizen services
- Saving energy
- Jobs for 400 employees
- Costs (as of 8/2022): around 78 million euros
In 2018, Bocholt's city council took the decision in principle to renovate the city hall.
The plans became more concrete as they progressed. In 2021, variants were presented (see download below) and decided by the Bocholt city council.
The refurbished building is expected to be commissioned towards the end of 2025 (as of 5/23).
During the construction work, the Bocholt city administration is housed in a building belonging to the Gigaset company at Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 52-28.
